Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the next big feature film from Marvel Studios, is rumored to include many mind-boggling cameos of old and new comic characters, with one being Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool. With the film’s release date approaching, Reynolds has now addressed the rumors.

First starring as the wisecracking anti-hero in 2016’s Dead PoolReynolds’ portrayal was immediately met with rave reviews, as he would go on to reprise the role in 2018’s Deadpool 2. After the merger between Disney and Fox in 2019, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has confirmed that a third Dead Pool film is in the works and will take place in the ongoing cinematic universe while also maintaining its R-rating.

With speculation brewing that Deadpool could make his MCU debut sometime soon, perhaps in the Doctor Strange sequel, Reynolds has now responded to the growing rumors. Promoting his upcoming sci-fi adventure film for Netflix, The Adam ProjectReynolds confirmed to Variety, “I’m really not in the movie, I’m promising, I’m not in the movie.” It’s of course very possible that Reynolds is not telling the truth, as star Andrew Garfield lied many times about his return as the web-slinger in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Deadpool Posing Cropped

While it would be exciting to see Deadpool incorporated into the film in some way, knowing Deadpool 3 is officially in the works is a big sigh of relief for fans as it is. Until his time to shine in the MCU comes, Doctor Strange 2 will surely have plenty of familiar faces to fill its runtime )Patrick Stewart’s Professor X/Charles Xavier has already been confirmed to show up in the film, as his voice can be heard in the latest mind-blowing trailer).

Like its title suggests, Doctor Strange 2 will explore more of the growing multiverse that has been set up this past year in series like Wanda Vision and Loki and now in films like No Way Home. Directed by Sam Raimi (who helmed the Tobey Maguire Spiderman trilogy) this time around, the film looks to take the MCU in a darker direction, as star Elizabeth Olsen (Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch) shared that the upcoming feature resembles a horror film at times.

Olsen’s Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong’s Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor’s Baron Mordo, Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez, and Rachel McAdams’ Christine Palmer will be joining Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer. On top of other rumored appearances from Fox’s Fantastic Four group and Tom Cruise’s variant of Iron Man, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki could also make an appearance, as the finale of his series left many unanswered questions that have answers possibly pointing to Doctor Strange.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness released in theaters on May 6th, 2022.
